Stress urinary incontinence

Leaks when you cough, laugh or lift. Treatable without surgery.

About 1 in 3 women leak urine at some point. Pressure from a cough, sneeze, laugh or jump pushes urine out because the tissue around your urethra no longer closes it tight. Childbirth, menopause, age and years of high-impact exercise all weaken that support.

Vaginal relaxation

Looseness after childbirth. Treatable without surgery.

Vaginal delivery and age stretch the vaginal canal. You notice less feeling during sex, a loose feeling, vaginal wind, or tampons that slip. Pelvic floor exercises help the muscle, but they do not tighten the stretched tissue itself.

Pelvic organ prolapse

Heaviness or a bulge. Treatable without surgery.

Your bladder, uterus or bowel drops and presses into the vagina. You feel pressure, heaviness, a bulge, or trouble emptying your bladder, often worse at the end of the day. Fotona notes it affects almost 50% of women who have given birth, to some degree.

Vaginal atrophy

Dryness and painful sex. Treatable without surgery.

Lower estrogen after menopause, while breastfeeding or after cancer treatment thins and dries the vaginal wall. You feel dryness, itching, burning, pain during sex, or get repeat bladder infections.

Your options

Four ways to treat these concerns.

Most women start with the least invasive option. Laser sits between daily exercises and surgery.

01

Pelvic floor physio

Daily exercises

Kegels and physio strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. They help most when you keep them up every day for months.

02

Pessary or estrogen

Devices and creams

A pessary supports your bladder or prolapse. Vaginal estrogen treats dryness. Both are ongoing.

03

Fotona SMOOTH® laser

No cuts, no downtime

IntimaLase®, IncontiLase®, ProlapLase® or RenovaLase®. About 20 to 30 minutes in our clinic, no anaesthetic, back to your day.

04

Surgery

Slings and repairs

A surgeon places a sling for leaks or repairs a prolapse. Surgery means an operating room, recovery time and surgical risks.

Women's intimate health FAQ

Questions women ask before booking.

About these concerns

Are bladder leaks, looseness and dryness normal after babies or menopause?

They are common, but you don't have to live with them. Many women have two or more of these at once, for example leaks and looseness after childbirth, or dryness and leaks after menopause.

What is the difference between stress and urge incontinence?

Stress incontinence leaks with pressure: coughing, laughing, running. Urge incontinence is a sudden, strong need to go that you can't hold. Fotona IncontiLase® targets stress and mixed leaks. Our doctor checks which type you have.

How do I know if I have prolapse?

Common signs are heaviness or pressure in your vagina, a bulge you can feel, or trouble emptying your bladder. Our doctor examines you and grades the prolapse at your free consult.

What causes vaginal dryness?

Lower estrogen after menopause, while breastfeeding, or after cancer treatment. Some medications cause it too.

Treatment

Can these be treated without surgery?

Yes. Physio, pessaries, vaginal estrogen and Fotona SMOOTH® laser are all non-surgical. Many women combine laser with pelvic floor exercises.
