Benefits

Laser skin resurfacing is a powerful treatment that can address a variety of skin concerns, revealing smoother, younger-looking skin. Here’s how it can benefit you:

Conditions Treated:

  • Acne Scars: Laser resurfacing can help minimize the appearance of acne scars, leaving your skin with a smoother texture.
  • Stretch Marks: Treatment can improve the visibility of stretch marks, offering a more even skin tone.
  • Sun Damage: Laser technology effectively targets sun damage, reducing the appearance of sunspots and hyperpigmentation.
  • Fine Lines & Wrinkles: By stimulating collagen production, laser resurfacing can visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Hyperpigmentation: Treatment can address uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation, promoting a more radiant complexion.
  • Trauma Scars: Laser resurfacing can help minimize the appearance of scars caused by accidents or injuries.

Introducing Fractional Laser Photothermolysis

At our clinic, we utilize the latest advancement in laser resurfacing technology: fractional laser photothermolysis. This innovative technique offers several advantages:

  • Effective Treatments: Fractional technology delivers results comparable to traditional Er:YAG lasers but with reduced downtime and side effects.
  • Faster Recovery: The fractional approach allows your skin to heal faster, minimizing the time it takes to return to your daily routine.
  • Suitable for All Skin Types: This technology is safe and effective for a wider range of skin types and tones, offering broader treatment options.
How it works

At Vancouver Medi Spa, we are committed to providing our patients with the most advanced and effective laser skin resurfacing technology. That’s why we utilize a state-of-the-art Er:YAG laser system equipped with VSP technology, offering several advantages:

  • Treating Deeper Concerns: The VSP laser’s ability to deliver longer and variable pulses allows us to effectively treat deeper wrinkles and scars, addressing a wider range of skin concerns.
  • Customization for You: This laser system offers a high degree of customization. Your doctor can precisely adjust treatment settings to achieve your desired results, whether it’s addressing superficial concerns or targeting deeper wrinkles.
  • Maximized Efficiency: Proprietary VSP technology optimizes ablation efficiency, meaning your treatment delivers the most effective results possible.
  • Precise Control: The VSP laser allows for precise control over the “cold” ablation and non-ablative thermal ratios. This translates to minimal discomfort and a faster healing process for you.

Fractional Technology for Faster Healing

Our Er:YAG laser utilizes a fractional technique. This advanced approach creates microscopic wounds on the skin surface, surrounded by healthy tissue. The healthy tissue promotes rapid re-epithelialization, which is the natural process of your skin regenerating new, healthy cells. This approach minimizes downtime and allows your skin to heal faster.

What to expect

Laser skin resurfacing offers a powerful solution for achieving smoother, younger-looking skin. At our clinic, we utilize a groundbreaking advancement – fractional laser technology. Here’s what makes it exceptional:

  • Precise Skin Sculpting: Fractional lasers deliver light energy in a controlled pattern, creating microscopic columns within the skin. This allows for highly precise treatment, targeting specific areas and achieving the desired results with exceptional accuracy.

  • Tailored Treatments: Fractional technology offers a high degree of customization. Your doctor can adjust treatment settings to address a spectrum of concerns, ranging from subtle touch-ups for minor imperfections to deeper collagen remodeling for patients seeking more dramatic rejuvenation.

  • Non-Surgical Alternative: For patients desiring noticeable improvement but hesitant about surgery or harsh chemical peels, fractional laser skin resurfacing provides an effective, non-surgical alternative.

The Benefits for You:

  • Graded Effects: Fractional technology allows for a gradual progression of results, meeting your specific expectations for rejuvenation.
  • Controlled Efficacy: Precise control over the laser energy translates to targeted results with minimal impact on surrounding healthy skin.
  • Less Downtime: Compared to traditional laser resurfacing methods, fractional technology often requires less downtime, allowing you to return to your daily routine faster.
Results

At Vancouver Medi Spa, we understand that everyone has unique skin concerns and goals. That’s why we offer a variety of laser skin resurfacing treatment options using our advanced Er:YAG laser with VSP technology. During your consultation, we can discuss your specific needs and recommend the most suitable treatment for you. Here’s a general overview of the different options and their typical recovery times:

Treatment Options and Recovery:

  • Light Peels (Cold, Warm, Hot): These treatments utilize a “cold” ablation approach for a more gentle effect. They are ideal for addressing mild concerns like sun damage or uneven skin tone. Recovery time typically ranges from 12-48 hours for cold peels, 12-72 hours for warm peels, and 4-5 days for hot peels.

  • Medium Peel (Cold – Papillary Dermis): This treatment targets the papillary dermis layer of the skin, offering more noticeable improvement for concerns like wrinkles and deeper sun damage. Recovery time for this option is typically 7-10 days.

Recommended Sessions

This innovative treatment is designed to minimize disruption to your daily routine.

Most patients experience:

  • Manageable Redness: Following treatment, you can expect mild redness similar to a sunburn, typically lasting for around 3 days.
  • Gentle Peeling: Some peeling may occur for 2 or more days after treatment. This is a normal part of the skin renewal process.
Post Treatment

INSTRUCTIONS

Do not use contact lenses until eye swelling is TOTALLY resolved.

Laser skin resurfacing offers significant benefits for rejuvenating your skin, but it’s natural to have questions about post-treatment care. Here’s a guide to help you navigate the recovery process:

Immediately After Treatment:

  • Soothing Discomfort: Use cool compresses or cold cloths on the treated area to manage discomfort. The burning sensation should lessen within 1-2 hours, replaced by a mild sunburn-like feeling. Continue using cool compresses as needed for comfort.
  • Moisturization is Key: Apply an occlusive ointment like Aquaphor or Vaseline to keep your skin well-hydrated. Reapply throughout the day to prevent dryness and tightness.
  • Hygiene Matters: Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your treated skin to minimize the risk of infection.
  • Antiviral Medication: If prescribed antiviral medication, continue taking it as directed by your doctor.

Day 1:

  • Gentle Cleansing: Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser and reapply the occlusive ointment to keep your skin protected and hydrated. Consider using a pillowcase protector to prevent ointment transfer.

Days 2 & 3:

  • Continued Care: Continue cleansing your face with a gentle cleanser and reapply the occlusive ointment throughout the day. Avoid picking at your skin or attempting to exfoliate. Let the natural peeling process occur without interference.

Day 4:

  • Hydration & Makeup: Start using a bland moisturizer during the day and apply makeup if desired. We recommend continuing to use the occlusive ointment at night for additional hydration. Your doctor may also recommend a mild hydrocortisone cream to help reduce redness. Discontinue hydrocortisone cream after one week.

Days 5, 6 & 7:

  • Moisturizing Routine: Continue cleansing and applying a bland moisturizer throughout the day and potentially at night as well.

Resuming Your Skincare Routine:

  • Gradual Return: We will advise you on when it’s safe to resume your regular skincare routine and start using active ingredients. Typically, this takes around 14 days.
